Dollywood here we come

April 9, 2012, Monday - Dollywood here we come!  We got in the park about 11:30am.  Great weather and so many things we all want to do.  One thing on the list is find the Gem Mining for Nathan.  We couldn't find it because they moved it.  But thankfully they still have it at the park.  We would have had one sad child on our hands.  We rode Chad and Nathan's favorite ride - Daredevil Falls and got wet.  Man, Nathan loves this ride.  It is a super flume water ride with a  60-ft, 50 mph drop.  Nathan is a Daredevil!  On the log flume picture below that is Chad and Nathan in the front seat and Brittany behind them. :)

Easter 2012

April 8, 2012, Sunday - Mark 16:6  “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

Happy Easter Everyone!  What a wonderful day we celebrate. The kids got up about 6:40am and headed downstairs to see if the Easter Bunny had hid their baskets.  Then we got ready and attended church, changed clothes at church and then hit the open road for Sevierville, TNHere we come for a week of fun at Dollywood!

Palm Sunday

April 1, 2012, Sunday - Here is the next post that I need to insert.  Palm Sunday - The kids walked down the sanctuary isle carrying palm branches and singing.  Then they sang at the alter.  So proud of them both!  After service we enjoyed a covered dish lunch in the fellowship hall, followed by some Easter games for the kids.  Then the much anticipated Easter Egg Hunt on the church lawn.  Nathan was worried about running out of room in his basket so we brought back up grocery bags for him.  A beautiful day!

New Carpet

March 27, 2012, Tuesday - I am sorry if you are reading this and wondering what is wrong with the date.  I realized that I forgot 2 important events that happened & blogger will not let me change the order of my posts.  So let me insert them here.
Today we got new carpet!  This is exciting to have this new change in our house.  The 3 men arrived about 8:30 in the morning and started moving the furniture.  Thank goodness it was a pretty day outside because they had to move our sectional couch outside on the deck.  There was no where else to move it to.  They went right to work cutting and removing the old carpet.  Then they used a long handled scrapper and scrapped padding that was still stuck to the wooden floor.  Padding went down and then the carpet, they left the stairs for last.  And they packed all the old carpet in their van, cleaned up and left by 4pm.  And WOW - our floors look different.  They look so nice and new!  I love new!  I was amazed how they laid the carpet on the staircase and went around the spindles.  So perfect!  We look forward to walking around on our new soft carpet. Here are the before and after pictures.

Town Egg Hunt

April 7, 2012, Saturday - Woke up early (for a Saturday) and took the kids to the town's 1st Annual Easter Egg Hunt. All the advertisements said 9-12 and didn't say when the actual hunt was or what age groups go when. So, we got there before 9 and found out the hunt was not going to be until 11:30am. There were games for the kids to do and free activities and so we kept busy with that. It was a cool morning. The kids learned some golf, decorated an egg, egg spoon relay and played on the playground. Chad headed back home to work on projects & then came back. 11:30 the hunt began and wow....in about 6 minutes, if that long, the hundreds of eggs were swooped up by quick kids.

Nathan just dropped his egg at the end right when I snapped the photo

See the eggs in the background?!

Ready, Set, Go!

Dying Eggs

April 6, 2012, Friday - No School, it is officially Spring Break. Last year we didn't get around to dying eggs because we left for out of town on Palm Sunday and were on vacation for the whole week before Easter (and I didn't pack egg dying supplies). This year we are leaving on Easter so today gave us the opportunity to dye some eggs. The kids loved it!

1st Grade Snack

April 5, 2012, Thursday - This morning I helped with Nathan's class snack. We colored cream cheese and put it on half a small bagel to make it look like an Easter Egg. They also had grapes. They enjoyed their snack. Last day of school and then Spring Break tomorrow, Yah!!!
Later Nathan had a soccer game against the Grasshoppers.  It was raining and raining, but no lighting and so the organization kept the kids playing.  This is the first time in 3 years Nathan has had to play in constant rain.  We were under umbrellas, but they were not.  They were so wet and cold.  I am happy to say that they WON 5-3 and Nathan scored a GOAL!  Way to Go, Nathan!
Brittany and Nathan gave these cute Easter gifts to all their teachers.

Nathan already finished his snack & got out his regular snack, goldfish.
