Awards
January 31, 2012, Tuesday - I attended the 4th grade Awards Ceremony this morning. Both kids did so great on their 2 quarter report cards. Brittany received A Honor Roll and Perfect Attendance. Keep up the great work kids! We are proud of you!
Come on Over
January 29, 2012, Sunday - Everyone came over to our house for a pizza party and fellowship for lunch. We enjoyed catching up with everyone, jokes, balancing acts, nerf guns, nature walks, playgrounds, and cream pie.

Grandma turns 90
January 28, 2012, Saturday - The kids had basketball games this morning. And they had the most fans yet to come to their game. Aunts and uncles and cousins arrived last night for the big weekend. Grandma (Margaret) Schield turns 90 today. After the game we are headed for family pictures and the big party.

And here are her children Annette, Steve, Kathy and Susan. I know Grandpa is smiling down from heaven (he would be 89, turning 90 in November).
We presented her with 2 - 100 page scrapbooks that everyone contributed too, near and far. Lots of memories in those books. Grandma was totally blown away.
Uncle Al has perfected how to build a awesome bonfire. Here everyone is enjoying it as the sun goes down and gets chilly.
Later Dad gave hayrides in his truck around the pasture & everyone had a great time. Thank you so much Grandma for creating such a fun, loving, christian family. We love you so much!

Spelling Bee
January 25, 2012, Wednesday - Today 3rd -5th grade participated in a Spelling Bee. They get a winner from each class, then a winner from the school then goes to County. It was "wear yellow and black" day in honor of the spelling bee. Brittany tried for her class, but did not make it. I am proud of her for trying though. It was optional to try for it. She got a certificate for participating. Here are the kids after school.

First Upward Game & Birthday Party
January 21, 2012, Saturday - The kids had their first game this morning. Nathan (the Panthers) at 10am and Brittany (the Falcons) at 11am. They did super. They both won their games. Great way to start the season.

3pm Brittany had her birthday party at Build-A-Bear. The party host was very good and made things fun. The kids loved picking out their special animal and then finding the perfect outfit to dress it up and reflect their own style. Then we celebrated with a cookie cake and presents. The girls got a little distracted by the teenagers riding up and down in the glass elevators on either side of us. Then we checked out the "real model" posing in the clothing store window. She even interacted with the girls. They just loved it! So cute to see them having fun.

Brittany turns 10
January 18, 2012, Wednesday - Happy 10th Birthday, Brittany!!! A tradition I started back along is to decorate the kid's doors at night when they go to bed with streamers hanging down. Then on the morning of their birthday they get to run through their birthday door. Here is Brittany bright and early to get ready for school. She was a little disappointed about today and having to take tests (benchmarks as they are called) on her birthday. But she was OK with it. There is nothing we could do about that fact.
Later I came to the school and Brittany, the teacher and I passed out a special snack to all her classmates. Here we are singing "Happy Birthday" to Brittany.
When Daddy got home Brittany opened some family presents.
Today is Wednesday so that means Upward Basketball practice. We let Brittany pick a quick place to get some dinner before practice and she again picked Chick-fil-A (she picked this last year too). Then off to practice. She took some delicious purple and white cupcakes to give out to her teammates in celebration of her birthday. They all really enjoyed it & were so appreciative. The HPU coaches even liked that the colors were their university colors.
