Wet and more Wet

April 13, 2012, Friday - Chad, Nathan and Brittany enjoyed the River Battle, shooting spectators with water and they shooting them too.  Early in the week we purchased the Dollywood refillable popcorn container.  That was a highlight for Nathan....the popcorn was a delicious snack.  Brittany had fun learning a new magic trick she purchased.  The whole family rode on the Smoky Mountain River Rampage.  We all got wet!  Chad and the kids rode several more times...they loved getting wet.  Back at the resort after dinner we played a round of miniature golf.

Apple Butter and Basketballs

April 12, 2012, Thursday - For lunch we went to the Apple Barn - recommended to us by our friends the Paynes.  There was no wait in line and we got to sit in a porch swing for our seats.  That was a first.  They brought us apple fritters with apple butter.  Oh, my, that was a first too and it won't be the last.  They are delicious!!!  Great food!  Then we explored the river, gift shop and candy shop.  Very neat place!  Next up, Dollywood!  We enjoyed the train ride on the 110-ton coal-fired steam train, the carousel, multi-flavored icee, roller coasters and Daddy winning a basketball for everyone! Wahoo!

Adventure Mountain

April 11, 2012, Wednesday - We arrived at the park right before 10am when they open.  We headed right to Adventure Mountain.  We have to hook on a harness & we are attached to the elevated challenge course with a rope.  There are 3 different trails and it was fun for the whole family.  We enjoyed lots of rides and had a full day at Dollywood.  We enjoyed one show "Spirit of the Dance" from Ireland.  It was amazing how fast they could get their feet to move!  Purchased their famous Cinnamon Bread and the kids finished the day playing Skylanders at the resort.

Pigeon Forge

April 10, 2012, Tuesday - Dollywood is closed every Tuesday in April so we had to find other things to do.  We had a late lunch at a Pizza buffet place that had an arcade.  The kids had fun there and Daddy too.  He kept trying the basketball game to make the high score of the day...and he did!  Then we drove into Pigeon Forge and went Gem Mining.  Always a fun thing!  And then later we went to the resort clubhouse and Nathan decided to build a pyramid & did a great job!

Dollywood here we come

April 9, 2012, Monday - Dollywood here we come!  We got in the park about 11:30am.  Great weather and so many things we all want to do.  One thing on the list is find the Gem Mining for Nathan.  We couldn't find it because they moved it.  But thankfully they still have it at the park.  We would have had one sad child on our hands.  We rode Chad and Nathan's favorite ride - Daredevil Falls and got wet.  Man, Nathan loves this ride.  It is a super flume water ride with a  60-ft, 50 mph drop.  Nathan is a Daredevil!  On the log flume picture below that is Chad and Nathan in the front seat and Brittany behind them. :)

Easter 2012

April 8, 2012, Sunday - Mark 16:6  “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

Happy Easter Everyone!  What a wonderful day we celebrate. The kids got up about 6:40am and headed downstairs to see if the Easter Bunny had hid their baskets.  Then we got ready and attended church, changed clothes at church and then hit the open road for Sevierville, TN!  Here we come for a week of fun at Dollywood!
