Happy Birthday, Nathan
October 24, 2011, Monday - Today my baby boy turns 7! Wow - where does time go?! I brought popcorn and Honeycomb to share with the class for snack to celebrate Nathan's special day. Some schools allow sweets, but our school is one that does not so you have to be creative in what you can serve. You can also not make anything, it has to be package food. Makes it tough for celebrations, but the kids enjoy whatever you share with them. Happy Birthday, Nathan!

Birthday Party Time
October 22, 2011, Saturday - A beautiful day today with the temperatures in the upper 60's. We are celebrating Nathan's 7th birthday at Kersey Valley Maize Adventure. Nathan just loves rocks, minerals and gems. He decided to have a Gem Mining Party again. The kids enjoyed shifting through the dirt and water to find the perfect gem. Then we celebrated with a brownie soccer ball cake and Nathan opened presents. Thank you to Uncle Cameron and Chad for blocking the wind and getting the candles lit. I was not sure we were going to get them lit.
The kids then enjoyed taking off their shoes and socks and bouncing, jumping, falling down on a huge inflatable pillow. I think because the weather was so nice and because Kersey Valley added a zipline there were tons of people. The kids had to stand in line for the pillow, but the wait was not too long and they were able to jump twice. They also enjoyed digging for dinosaur bones.
It was a great way to celebrate turning 7. Happy Birthday, Nathan! We love you!

Pumpkin Patch
October 15, 2011, Saturday -We made our 7th Annual Trip to the Jamestown Pumpkin Patch. This time was extra special because for the first time we got to bring daddy along. Once we were there daddy was all about finding the right pumpkin, paying and heading out. He didn't realize that this is more like a field trip than just a buying decision. Once we explained that we look around, get pictures, search for pumpkins, check out the gourds, little pumpkins, hay bales, photo opportunities with wooden cut out signs, more pictures, then daddy relaxed a little more and enjoyed the moment. It was a beautiful sunny day and perfect for finding a pumpkin. We love fall!

Goalie?
October 15, 2011, Saturday - Surprise, surprise.....Uncle Cameron showed up to Nathan's game all the way from Portsmouth, VA. That was a neat surprise! Today ICE played the Cobras. The score ended up 2-3. We lost. Chase made our 2 goals. Nathan was put in as goalie for the first and only time all season. He had no training, but did his best. Way to go, Nathan!
