Operation Christmas Child

November 2010 - Operation Christmas Child - what an awesome ministry to children and families across the globe. Since 1993 Samaritan's Purse has delivered 61 million shoe boxes to hurting children in 135 countries. Our family has a tradition of packing shoes boxes each year to help spread God's love. Brittany and Nathan enjoy helping shop for the children & are excited to pack up their boxes.
This year our church was asked to be a Relay (Drop Off) Center. We totally accepted the invitation. Chad, the kids and I enjoyed helping out at the church during the collection week. What a blessing to be a part of this wonderful outreach to hurting children. Our church processed over 4,000 boxes.

First Awards Ceremony

November 12, 2010, Friday - Brittany had her first School Awards Ceremony. She received a certificate for making A Honor Roll for the 1st Quarter of 3rd Grade. That is a big accomplishment since 3rd grade is a tougher year than the previous school years. Way to Go Brittany! We are so proud of you! Brittany also got Prefect Attendance for the 1st Quarter. Way to Go! You have a great start to your 3rd Grade year.

School Skate Night

Oct 26, 2010, Tuesday - Tonight we headed to the School Skate Night Fundraiser. We all dressed up. The kids had a fun time. They get better at roller skating each time we come, which is not often. Nathan's class tied with another class for the most kids that came & so he got a free snow cone. It was neat seeing all the costumes.

Birthday at school

October 25, 2010, Monday - Today at school Nathan's class had hands on learning with pumpkins. I was able to help out with the project. We put a small candle in the pumpkins when we were done and we lit them & turned the lights out. It was a fun morning.
I came back and ate lunch with Nathan and then the class helped celebrate his birthday. He got to choose 2 friends to stand with him & help with the puppet while we sang Happy Birthday. He then skipped around the room while we sang a cute song. He was a little embarrassed to do that and so Mrs. Nix joined in. What a special day at school!

Nathan's 6th Birthday

October 24, 2010, Sunday - Today Nathan turns 6! I can't believe it. Since we got the Super Mario Brothers Wii game at Christmas Nathan loves to play the game. It is challenging and super fun so Nathan decided to have a Super Mario party.

We were so fortunate to have awesome weather for his at home party & were able to play outdoors. The high was middle 70's. The kids enjoyed Super Mario Brothers obstacle course, Yoshi Egg Relay, Find the Coins and a pinata. The trampoline was a big hit with the kids too. Enjoy the pictures.

Last Soccer Game

October 23, 2010, Saturday - Today is Nathan's last soccer game of the season. Great weather again for a game. The team played well, but didn't make the win. That is OK, it is about having fun and exercise, not about the winning. Enjoy the pictures.
Check out Nathan's kick!
Wow - and another powerful kick!
Thank you Nana and Papa for your support!
End of Season party at Micky D's.
What an awesome season Nathan! You played great games. You are very talented. We can't wait to see what next season brings. We love you!

3rd Grade Field Trip

October 22, 2010, Friday - Today I helped chaperon the 3rd Grade Field Trip to Old Salem. I had been there before as a young kid, but didn't remember much. It was a beautiful day to walk around and see the restored buildings, gardens, museums & craftsmen.
Inside the oldest standing African American church in NC. Built in 1861 & expanded in 1890. This picture was taken upstairs where Sunday School classes were held.
Lunchtime - Great weather to have a picnic outside
Abraham Lincoln came and slept in this tavern (hotel). It was built in 1784.
Explaining how the kitchen worked back then & how they did their laundry.
