Zoo Field Trip

The first grade took a trip to the Zoo on Friday, May 22, 2009. This was the first and only trip that parents were allowed to come on. We had perfect weather and lots of chaperons. I am thankful that I only had 2 kids to keep up with. Brittany's favorite animal was the giraffe and there were babies too.
We had a great time!

Strawberry Pickin'

May 12, 2009, Tuesday - Today Nathan's preschool (our church) went to the Strawberry Patch. Nathan really listened well and picked only the really red strawberries. They were sure yummy to eat when we got home!

Mother's Day

May 10, 2009, Sunday - Happy Mother's Day all you mother's out there! I hope that you have a wonderful day celebrating all that God has blessed you with.

The kids sang in church this morning and then we headed over to Mom & Dad's for lunch & brought everyone Mom's favorite "Cook-Out Shakes" for dessert. Cameron came home after graduation yesterday and so was able to spend Mother's Day with all of us. He heads out tomorrow for a beach trip. After presents and pictures and fellowship we took the kids next door to the school playground. They had a ball.
Happy Mother's Day Mom Cooper and Mom Secraw. We love you both dearly! God has truly blessed us!

Little Brother's Graduation

May 9, 2009, Saturday - Today my little brother, Cameron is graduating college. Wow! What a great day to be celebrating. He is receiving his Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering from NC State University. We drove over early this morning & helped Mom and Dad finish decorating & setting up for his Picnic Party in the Park. We had yummy chicken and sandwiches & fixin's & root beer floats and cake & ice cream. Cameron opened some presents and cards. A train went right by us & ended up stopping on the track. Nathan liked looking at it. Brittany liked walking Mitzi with Papa in the park. It was a fun party. It was a bright sunny hot day in May. It was at least 90 degrees today. The shade and breeze helped. The graduation ceremony was outside. Very nice ceremony, but very hot. At least it was not raining so to tolerate the heat was OK. They gave us yummy punch and cookies after the ceremony. Enjoy the photos! Congratulations Cameron, Way to Go! You Did It! We are so proud of you! We look forward to what God has in store for you next.

Last Soccer Game

April 30, 2009, Thursday - Nathan had his last soccer game tonight. Wow, how the time flew for this soccer season. Nathan really enjoyed playing the game. His team ended up winning every game. Nathan could take the ball and kick it down the field and make a goal. He received a surprise trophy at the end of the game. He was so excited to finally have a trophy like big sister who has trophies for dance. Way to go Nathan!!!

Preston Loyd

April 22, 2009, Wednesday - Our friend's son, Preston, was in a horrific accident Wed. evening. He was accidentally backed over by his grandfather on a riding lawnmower. He was flown by medical helicopter to Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte. He is 4 1/2 years old. Our prayers were that Preston would live.
Please click on the link on the side of this blog to be connected to his CaringBridge site. His parents, Cinamon and Ashton give updates on his condition. Our God is still in the Miracle Business today. Please pray for him and his family. Preston has a 7 year old sister, Taylor. Thank you so much for your prayers. God hears us when we pray.

Dollywood

April 12-19, 2009 - The kids have Spring Break this week and so we booked our vacation in Pigeon Forge, TN for the week. We had an awesome time. We went to Dolly Parton's theme park - Dollywood for 4 of the days. We had some much fun. They were doing Festival of Nations in the park and so there were people from all over the world that had booths selling their crafts and also the people were part of the shows and concerts throughout the park. Dollywood has over 30 live shows daily, over 40 rides and attractions, over 30 unique shops, & 20 restaurants. There was something for all of us. We even rode the 110-ton coal-fired steam engine on a breathtaking five-mile journey through the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
We really enjoyed Imagine' presented by Le Grand Cirque. It was a fantastic show with amazing performances. Brittany's favorite ride was Timber Tower - the 55 foot tall toppling spinning tower. I guess she has her mother's likes for roller coasters. Nathan's favorite ride was Daredevil Falls - super flume water ride with a 60 ft, 50 mph drop. That was daddy's favorite too.
We also visited the Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, TN.

If you haven't been to Dollywood Chad and I highly recommend it for families. It is only 4 1/2 hour drive from here and it is so much fun!
