Last Soccer Game

April 30, 2009, Thursday - Nathan had his last soccer game tonight. Wow, how the time flew for this soccer season. Nathan really enjoyed playing the game. His team ended up winning every game. Nathan could take the ball and kick it down the field and make a goal. He received a surprise trophy at the end of the game. He was so excited to finally have a trophy like big sister who has trophies for dance. Way to go Nathan!!!

Preston Loyd

April 22, 2009, Wednesday - Our friend's son, Preston, was in a horrific accident Wed. evening. He was accidentally backed over by his grandfather on a riding lawnmower. He was flown by medical helicopter to Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte. He is 4 1/2 years old. Our prayers were that Preston would live.
Please click on the link on the side of this blog to be connected to his CaringBridge site. His parents, Cinamon and Ashton give updates on his condition. Our God is still in the Miracle Business today. Please pray for him and his family. Preston has a 7 year old sister, Taylor. Thank you so much for your prayers. God hears us when we pray.

Dollywood

April 12-19, 2009 - The kids have Spring Break this week and so we booked our vacation in Pigeon Forge, TN for the week. We had an awesome time. We went to Dolly Parton's theme park - Dollywood for 4 of the days. We had some much fun. They were doing Festival of Nations in the park and so there were people from all over the world that had booths selling their crafts and also the people were part of the shows and concerts throughout the park. Dollywood has over 30 live shows daily, over 40 rides and attractions, over 30 unique shops, & 20 restaurants. There was something for all of us. We even rode the 110-ton coal-fired steam engine on a breathtaking five-mile journey through the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
We really enjoyed Imagine' presented by Le Grand Cirque. It was a fantastic show with amazing performances. Brittany's favorite ride was Timber Tower - the 55 foot tall toppling spinning tower. I guess she has her mother's likes for roller coasters. Nathan's favorite ride was Daredevil Falls - super flume water ride with a 60 ft, 50 mph drop. That was daddy's favorite too.
We also visited the Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, TN.

If you haven't been to Dollywood Chad and I highly recommend it for families. It is only 4 1/2 hour drive from here and it is so much fun!

Easter

April 12, 2009, Easter Sunday - Jesus is Alive!

Matthew 28:5-7 The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

The kids sang in church today. I am so thankful for my family and that we serve a risen Lord.

Dying Easter Eggs

April 10, 2009, Good Friday - After school today Brittany and Nathan dyed Easter Eggs. This is a fun tradition in our family. They liked dying them, drawing on them with the wax crayon and then putting stickers on them. They made a sports egg for Daddy.

Preschool Easter Egg Hunt & Game

April 8, 2009, Wednesday - Nathan had his Easter Egg Hunt at preschool today. He had a lot of fun even though it was cold. 51 degrees at the time of the hunt. He found a lot of eggs.
He had his 3rd soccer game tonight. His team is doing really well. They won their 3rd game. Brittany kept score again. 19-3 and Nathan made 5 goals. There are only 4 kids on the field at a time from each team. There were 7 kids there tonight on his team. So Nathan ended up sitting out some. He made goals every time he was put in though. Way to Go Nathan!

Wackadoo Zoo

April 7, 2009, Tuesday - Today Brittany had a 1st grade Music Program called Wackadoo Zoo. Mom, Nathan and I were able to go see it. Chad was out of town for work. Brittany did a great job! She was a goat. Other kids were lions, cows, monkeys and pigs. The animals were mixed up with the proper sound they were suppose to make. It was funny and made us smile. Way to Go Brittany!

Walk, Game, Carnival, & Lake

April 4, 2009, Saturday - Today is a busy day, but FUN. We started out the morning with Brittany's school doing a walk to raise money for technology at the school. The family got to walk around the school soccer field with her. Nana and Papa even came out to support her! It was a fun walk....the kids ran some too. The Chick-fil-A cow was there too.

This is the 1st Grade sign. Brittany's purple handprint is in the top left corner.

Then we left the walk to go to Nathan's 10am Soccer Game. He did GREAT again. His team won 16-10 and Nathan made a lot of goals. It was fun to watch these little kids go after the ball.

Nathan making a goal.
The cheering section (and Nathan during break).

Next was back to the school for the Spring Carnival. Then we headed to the lake.

Nathan's 1st Soccer Game

March 21, 2009, Saturday - Today Nathan had his first soccer game. They had team pictures before the game. Some of his team mates did not show up for the picture. The weather was a bit chilly. Nathan did super! He is a natural. A little hard for daddy to get use to since we did not grow up with soccer as a sport option. More the baseball and basketball sports. But, Daddy is warming up to it. Nathan did so well. He really can run fast and keep up with the ball. Brittany kept score and helped take pictures. Nathan ended up scoring 5 goals and his team won 11-4. Way to go Purple Pirates! If he keeps this up, scoring 1 more than his age, when he is in high school he will be the star player. (Mommy's wishful thinking Ha!). Check out the slide show.

Third Snow

March 2, 2009, Monday - First of all, I am sorry for not posting anything for a while. Our computer was down for a week because of the snow that I am getting ready to tell you about.

The beautiful snow came through Sunday night. Our power ended up going off about 2am. It was cold when we woke up. We ended up getting about 5.7 inches of snow. Our area has not gotten this much in several years. Of course the schools were closed. Chad's work was delayed 2 hours. Brittany, Nathan and I got outside about 10 am and could sled right down our driveway. The kids had a lot of fun. We walked down the road and found Brittany and Nathan's friends outside. They were wondering where to sled.....we said "our driveway" and so they came over and had a blast going down our driveway and side yard. Brittany made a little snowman and Nathan enjoyed tasting the snow. We entertained our self inside with no power. We stayed by the gas logs, but that only helped a little bit. Our house was 55 degrees inside & the estimated time for the power to come back on was 11pm. Well, thankfully God answered my prayers and the power came back on sooner....1:30pm. We were so cold at that point. During the power off and on it blew out the power source in our computer. After ordering a part....Chad fixed our computer and now we are back and running. Thanks Chad! Super Computer Man!
Can you believe it....I am writing this blog 1 week later March 9th and it is suppose to be 80 degrees today and we have our air conditioner running. Wow - this weather is crazy. I am ready for Spring!
I hope everyone has a good week. Don't forget to comment on this blog. It lets me know you are interested in what we are doing. Thanks!
Oh, the kids were out for 2 days and 2 hours of school. Thought you northern folks would get a kick out of that.
